A wonderful time
Meanwhile, your dog is in puberty and you are participating in the second course at our dog school. During this period, undesirable behaviors may occur, such as jumping up to people, not listening as well to commands that were previously executed fine, barking at dogs or other animals on walks or pulling on the leash a lot. Together we will make sure your dog is well behaved again.
Course
This course consists of 6 lessons, including one theory lesson and the cost is €135.
The course day is Sunday morning and is given for dogs 6 months and older. The course is called adolescent+, so even older dogs over 6 years old are welcome!
All courses and private lessons can also be given in English!
Course content
The content of the course, in addition to the commands let, sit, come here, paw, lie down, stay and turn, consists of:
- a theory lesson on learning principles of dogs, hormones, puberty;
- ‘peace in the tent’. In the first lesson, your adolescent will be mentally challenged by food enrichment and you will walk slowly on a leash;
- “Practice makes perfect,” where commands are learned as a function of play;
- “hurrah, out the door! We teach your adolescent not to just storm out the door and we respond to desired behaviors;
- “friendly greetings,” in which your dog learns to ignore other dogs during walks. The other dogs learn to wait quietly while another dog passes;
- ‘Incredibly well behaved. The conclusion of the course, where all commands are gone over, the dogs go on a closing walk and all students receive a certificate of participation.
Location
Classes are held at buitenplaats Vaeshartelt: a beautiful, quiet location in Maastricht.
There are ample parking spaces, directly adjacent to the training field. Vaeshartelt also offers the opportunity to have a snack and a drink where you, along with your dog, are most welcome.
